SoftServe, a member of Kharkiv IT Cluster, has received validation of its climate targets from the global Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The organization officially validated SoftServe’s near- and long-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets and confirmed the company’s commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

SBTi validation confirms SoftServe’s commitment to responsible business practices and provides a clear, science-based framework for meaningfully reducing its environmental impact.

Under the validated targets, SoftServe commits to:

  • reduce direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions from the company’s operations (Scope 1 and Scope 2, respectively, under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol) by 63.17% by 2035, compared to a 2021 baseline;
  • reduce other indirect emissions across its supply chain (Scope 3, covering purchased goods and services and business travel) by 37.5% by 2035, compared to a 2022 baseline;
  • achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2050.

SBTi is a global organization that helps companies and financial institutions worldwide contribute to combating the climate crisis. It develops standards, tools, and guidance that enable companies to set greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and achieve net-zero emissions no later than 2050.

SBTi’s independent validation confirms that SoftServe’s targets meet international standards. The company’s long-term strategy aligns with scientific evidence and supports efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C. SoftServe has become one of the few companies in Ukraine to receive this recognition.

“From operational efficiency to supply chain stability, climate change threatens our livelihoods as well as the core business functions essential to our societal progress,” said Yuliya Zaplotynska, Environmental Sustainability Director at SoftServe. “These targets build on real, measurable progress — over the past several years, we've made steady gains in reducing our energy consumption and lowering our carbon intensity across the business. With science-based, externally validated goals now in place, we're fully committed to translating that momentum into lasting impact — for our clients, our people, and the planet.”

SoftServe’s approach to sustainability involves daily actions aimed at reducing energy consumption, increasing the use of renewable and low-carbon energy, and limiting emissions through remote work and digital collaboration.

In its recently published 2025 Sustainability Report, SoftServe reported a 10.83% reduction in energy consumption and a 7.14% reduction in carbon intensity per full-time equivalent (FTE), compared to the 2020 baseline.
